Job Description

LAUNDRY WORKER JOB DESCRIPTION
___________________________________________________________________________ The purpose of this position is to implement facility laundry procedures in an efficient, cost-effective manner to safely meet residents' needs in compliance with federal, state and local requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
At least 1 year laundry experience in a related field.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Skilled at organizing various duties. Must be flexible and able to handle change easily and professionally. Must be punctual and consistent with work schedule. Maintain a positive attitude. Communicate with residents, families and staff in a professional and tactful manner. Be a role model of professionalism and teamwork. Demonstrate good work and time management habits
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB
(with or without assistance): Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, grasping, pushing and pulling, fine hand coordination, ability to hear and respond to pages, ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions and directions; ability to communicate with residents, families, personnel, vendors and consultants; ability to distinguish smells, tastes, and temperatures; and the ability to remain calm under stress.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement laundry policies and procedures to meet residents' needs in compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Participate in the monitoring system for the laundry department. Notify supervisor when supplies are needed, equipment is in need of repair or when linen and residents' clothing are in need of repair. Use laundry supplies efficiently. Follow material safety data sheets. Operate laundry equipment safely. Assist in proper care of laundry equipment. Identify and report any equipment malfunction to supervisor. Perform laundry procedures in accordance with facility policy. Adjust water temperature valves to maintain required temperatures. Operate automated laundry solution dispensing system. Ironing duties as assigned. Observe waste disposal procedures in accordance with facility policy. Handle clean and soiled laundry appropriately. Follow Residents' Rights policies at all times. To observe infection control procedures at all times. Identify and report garments or linens in ill repair to supervisor. o Distribute clothing to residents' rooms in accordance with the theft loss program. Attend in-service training programs for housekeeping associates. To come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality. To accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner. To come to work in neat, clean clothing consistent with laundry policy. To perform other duties as requested by management.
