Summary:
Launders guestroom linens, table skirts, uniforms, cleaning rags, and other items; stocks linen closets. The intent of this position description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by this position. Employee(s) may be required to perform position-related tasks other than those specifically listed in this description.
Essential Job Functions:
Loads articles into washer and/or dryer using a computerized program with pre-programmed cycles for articles to be cleaned and dried. Soaks contaminated articles to precondition for washing; uses recommended processes for cleaning-stained linens. Sorts dried articles according to type; folds by hand or by using a flat iron press and places on carts or in appropriate storage areas. Assists in maintaining machines and other equipment; checks outside screens, cleans filters, and reports any maintenance issues appropriately. Performs room attendant duties when necessary. Participates in special cleaning projects and deep cleaning projects as assigned. Responds to general inquiries and provides assistance to guests. Cleans up spills and bio-hazardous materials.

Required Knowledge of:
Techniques and methods used in basic laundry procedures. Safety precautions as they pertain to laundry procedures. Housekeeping processes and procedures.
Required Skill in:
Performing a variety of cleaning techniques in a timely and effective manner. Determining the difference between clean and dirty linens. Communicating both orally and in writing. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others. Maintaining compliance with health and safety standards. Safely handling cleaning chemicals and operating custodian equipment.
Education, Experience, Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent, and six (6) months cleaning work experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. High-security gaming license issued by the Grand Ronde Gaming Commission. Must be at least 18 years of age. Due to the nature of the interactions with other employees and the public we serve, employees may be required to provide documentation of or receive certain health vaccinations.
Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Work is performed in an industrial laundry environment with routine exposure to hot temperatures and heavy machinery; occasionally exposed to tobacco smoke. Work is subject to routine standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, kneeling, and lifting up to 100 pounds. Work is subject to frequent use of hands to finger, handle, feel, and reach with hands and arms. Routinely subjected to noise from equipment operation, and required to work at heights, and reach overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally. Occasionally exposed to blood and bodily fluids. Frequently exposed to hazardous cleaning materials and chemicals. Will be required to pass a pre-employment physical.
Equipment and Tools Utilized:
Equipment utilized includes standard office equipment, industrial-size washers, dryers, and flat iron presses, carpet cleaners, vacuum cleaners, blowers, and fans.
