The Laundry Aide, who plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient functioning of our laundry facility. Responsibilities include collecting and sorting soiled linen, operating washing, and drying machines, folding and bundling clean linens, and maintaining a clean and sanitary work area. To ensure that we meet quality, safety, and customer service expectations, our Laundry Aides strictly adhere to established guidelines and standards. Furthermore, they are responsible for delivering personal clothing to residents and promptly reporting any equipment or product needs or malfunctions to their supervisor.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
JOB
FUNCTION
Soiled Linen & Personal Clothing Sorts soiled linen following infection control procedures, which may involve bending to retrieve items from the floor. Lifts 30 to 40 lb bags of wet, soiled linen from soiled linen barrels, adhering to infection control requirements.
JOB FUNCTION
Washing Linen & Personal Clothing Transports sorted, soiled linen to the washer and loads the washer a minimum of 15-20 times per day, following infection control procedures. Operates machines, keeps track of the cycle/stage, and disinfects the mouth of the washer after loading soiled laundry and before shutting the machine door.
JOB FUNCTION
Drying Linen & Personal Clothing Transports wet, clean linen from the washer and loads it into the dryer a minimum of 15 to 20 times per day, using safe lifting procedures. Operates machines, sets the proper temperature and drying cycle times, and untangles loads of linen before loading clean, dry linen into a laundry cart.
JOB FUNCTION
Clean Linens & Personal Clothing Counts and records the linen processed each day. Folds and bundles clean linens according to standards. Lifts bundles of clean linen to a delivery cart a minimum of 40 to 50 times per day and delivers them, along with personal clothing, to units/rooms.
JOB FUNCTION
Work Area Maintenance Cleans and sanitizes the work area, including machines, work tables, and sorting area. Reports equipment malfunctions in a timely manner and stocks necessary detergents.
JOB FUNCTION
Customer Service Interact appropriately with residents, clients, personnel, and the public. Respond to customer concerns in a prompt manner. Ensures Par Levels are maintained and delivered timely. Ensuring accuracy of delivering personal clothing to the residents.
JOB FUNCTION
Safety and Other Reports observations of structural and equipment wear, defects, and malfunctions to the supervisor. Reports supply and equipment needs to the supervisor for replenishing. Ensures Lint Traps are cleaned routinely and properly documented.
EDUCATION/TRAINING/WORK EXPERIENCE
QUALIFICATIONS:
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Must be punctual and able to read, write, and speak English effectively. Ability to recognize hazards and follow appropriate safety measures. Must maintain personal cleanliness and demonstrate pleasant and courteous behavior. Ability to cooperate with other employees and perform routine tasks. Must be able to work independently and complete all responsibilities without supervision. Must be able to fully understand and complete all in-services and provide a criminal background check.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
High School Diploma or equivalent and some housekeeping experience preferred. Ability to understand oral instructions and undergo training. No certificates or licenses are required but must be able to meet attendance requirements. Ability to handle and mix chemicals safely and properly. Knowledge of environmental services program requirements. Knowledge of and ability to use all department equipment. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to positively interact with residents, clients, and other personnel.
Computer software:
Ability to punch in and out correctly on timeclock.
Machine operation:
All standard EVS & Laundry equipment.
