Laundry Attendant

Job Purpose:
To tend laundering machines to clean articles such as sheets, blankets, tablecloths, and other linens used by the hotel.Job Responsibilities:
- Load articles into washer and adds specified amount of detergent, soap, or other cleaning agent.
- Turn valve to fill washer with water.
- Start machine that automatically washes and rinses articles.
- Lift clean, wet articles from washer and place them successively into driers for measured time cycles.
- Sort dried articles according to identification number or type.
- Fold and place item in appropriate storage racks.
- Ensure cleanliness of equipment.
- Empty lint trap regularly.
- Take the initiative to greet guests in a friendly and warm manner when needed
- Other duties as assigned.
- Follow all hazardous chemical procedures and ensure bloodied linen does not return to supplies.
- Inspect linen on a regular basis for tears, holes or sub-standard conditions and remove from guest inventory
- Maintain assigned work area in a clean and safe condition.
- Notify supervisor of malfunctioning equipment, supplies needed, damaged linens, to ensure laundry operation is running at maximum efficiency level.
- Ensure linen carts are stocked and prepared to be delivered to guest room floors.

Requirements:
- Ability to speak and hear and Follow Instructions
- Identify and distinguish colors
- Stand for long periods of time
- Lift/carry 26-50 lbs.
- Kneel and/or stoop repeatedly
- Near loud noises
- Adjust to doing the same thing over and over
- Familiarity of the material safety data sheet when using chemicals and safety rules when working around machinery.
