Job Summary The Laundry Aide is responsible for ensuring a consistent supply of clean, neat, and quality linens and clothing, with a particular focus on the laundering of linens to ensure sanitation and hygiene standards are met per health department standards.
Essential Functions :
Responsible for sorting and washing soiled laundry; loading and unloading machines; shaking, ironing, folding, sorting, and tracking clean laundry; disposing of unusable items and reporting needs for replacement; storing and securing supplies and equipment; and cleaning the laundry area. Collect, wash, fold and deliver the bedding on a weekly basis or when necessary. Document using property log form, wash and label the belongings of the minor and store them in the designated place. Receive the merchandise, count it, fold it, and organize it correctly in the assigned areas (closet and/or warehouse). Assist on recording inventory changes of the merchandise in stock. Clean and disinfect the beds when there is a change of room or discharge. Daily check of all beds to ensure they have a complete and clean inventory. Wash the duffle bags of the minors 48 hours after they arrive. Qualifications and Requirements Preferred Education/Work Experience:
Level :
High School Diploma or a GED 6 months of experience as Housekeeper. 6 months as Laundry Attendant or relevant position. Customer service experience preferred. Ability to work with a variety of cleaning equipment and chemicals. Ability to perform all duties as required with or without an accommodation. Knowledge of and experience in cleaning and sanitizing rooms to varying levels to meet requirements. Ability to read, write and converse proficiently in Spanish and English and the ability to translate written Spanish into English is preferred. Working Conditions/ Physical Effort Work is performed mostly in an office setting. Evening and weekend work are requirements of the position as necessary. Regular computer work is required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; finger, handle, or feel objects, or controls; reach; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty 50 pounds and must be able to work on a ladder. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
