Role:

The Laundry Attendant plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of linens and garments within our accommodation and food services establishment. This position ensures that all laundry is processed efficiently and meets the highest standards of hygiene and quality. The Laundry Attendant will be responsible for operating various laundry equipment and adhering to safety protocols while handling chemicals and machinery. Attention to detail is essential, as the role involves sorting, washing, drying, folding, and distributing laundry items. Ultimately, the Laundry Attendant contributes significantly to the overall guest experience by ensuring that clean and fresh linens are always available.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in a laundry or housekeeping role is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of laundry chemicals and their safe handling. Ability to operate industrial laundry equipment.

Responsibilities:

Sort and categorize laundry items based on color, fabric type, and washing requirements. Operate washing machines, dryers, and other laundry equipment according to established procedures. Monitor the laundry process to ensure items are cleaned and dried to the required standards. Evaluate the condition of all linen and terry products to determine if they should remain in service and are free of spots. Fold, hang, and organize clean laundry for easy access and distribution. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry area, including proper storage of supplies and equipment. Assists in conducting ongoing inventory counts to keep up to date with linen and terry needs throughout the hotel.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Frequently required to stand, walk, sit. Frequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterity. Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl. Frequently required to talk or hear. Occasionally required to lift/push/carry items up to 25 pounds.

Skills:

The required skills for this position include attention to detail, which is vital for sorting and processing laundry accurately. Time management skills are essential, as the Laundry Attendant must efficiently handle multiple loads while adhering to schedules. Basic mechanical skills are beneficial for operating and troubleshooting laundry equipment. Additionally, strong communication skills are important for collaborating with team members and reporting any issues. Preferred skills, such as knowledge of laundry chemicals, enhance the ability to maintain safety and quality standards in the laundry process.
