GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Laundry Technician is responsible for the daily washing, distribution, and inventory of linens within the Newport News Sheriff's Office.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Requires the responsibility of monitoring Inmates who assist Laundry Technicians during the course of their shift. Responsible for maintaining inventory of linens, cleaning supplies, and equipment used. Responsible for the distribution of linens. Log inventory into Sheriff's Office tracking and computer systems Maintain laundry room, storage areas and equipment for cleanliness and in good working order Performs other duties as assigned.PERFORMANCE STANDARD

REQUIRED ABILITIES

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or GED certificate. Experience in a Correctional or Law Enforcement agency is preferredADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Acceptable comprehensive background investigation to include a local, state, and sex offender criminal history check as well as FBI Fingerprinting; a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. This position requires pre-employment substance abuse testing and is subject to random alcohol and controlled substance testing. Must be 21 years of agePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be a citizen of the United States. Requires an acceptable background check and credit check. Requires a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
