Job Title:
Linen Worker Job Description The linen worker supports hospital operations by safely transporting, organizing, and stocking clean linens throughout multiple floors of a large medical facility. This role focuses on maintaining a clean, orderly, and well-supplied linen inventory for clinical staff while following established procedures and safety standards. Responsibilities Distribute clean linens throughout designated floors of the hospital according to established schedules and procedures. Transport linen bins weighing up to approximately 50 pounds safely through hospital corridors and service areas. Stock and organize clean linens in their appropriate storage locations, ensuring items are neatly arranged and easily accessible. Monitor linen levels on assigned floors and replenish supplies as needed to prevent shortages. Follow hospital guidelines and policies while working in non-patient areas and interacting only with nursing and clinical staff. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of linen storage areas and carts. Handle materials and equipment carefully to avoid damage to linens and hospital property. Communicate effectively with nursing staff and team members regarding linen needs, issues, or shortages. Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality to support consistent linen service coverage. Follow all safety procedures when moving and lifting linen bins to prevent injuries. Essential Skills Ability to lift, push, and maneuver bins weighing up to approximately 50 pounds throughout the hospital. Experience in janitorial, housekeeping, general labor, warehouse, cleaning, or material handling environments. Strong attendance record and reliability. Willingness to learn and follow established procedures and hospital policies. Ability to organize and stock items accurately in designated locations. Capability to work cooperatively with nursing staff and coworkers in a fast-paced environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior experience as a warehouse associate, housekeeper, or in general labor is beneficial. Comfort working in a hospital setting and around clinical staff. Attention to detail when sorting, organizing, and stocking linens. Ability to follow dress and grooming guidelines, including short nails and allowance for gel or polish but no acrylic nails, in accordance with hospital policy. Strong work ethic and a positive, service-oriented attitude. Why Work Here? Work Environment The position is fully onsite in a hospital setting, working in linen rooms, corridors, and service areas rather than patient rooms. Team members interact primarily with nursing and clinical staff while moving and stocking linens across multiple floors. Available schedules include an 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. shift Monday through Friday, with every third weekend scheduled from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The role requires frequent walking, pushing, pulling, and lifting of linen bins weighing around 50 pounds. Orientation takes place offsite prior to working in the hospital. The employer provides five blue scrub uniforms for use while employed, which must be returned when employment ends, and sneakers are acceptable footwear as part of the dress code. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.50 - $16.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
