Job Description

Hotel Equities, a multi-award-winning hotel development and hospitality management company, is currently searching for a remarkable Laundry Attendant in our Housekeeping Department for the Hyatt Place Seattle/Downtown in Seattle, WA. The Laundry Attendant is responsible for the quality of the hotel linen supply by ensuring cleanliness and maintaining high standards at all times while providing the highest quality of service to guests in an attentive, courteous and efficient manner.
Schedule:
This role is primarily scheduled for morning shifts, with occasional evening coverage. Typical shift hours include 7:00 a.m•3:30 p.m., with limited shifts from 2:30 p.m•11:00 p.m. Weekend availability (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) is required.
Responsibilities:
Wash and dry all food and beverage linens and all guest room linens. Load and unload washers. Bring soiled linens to empty washer and load with proper weight. If scale is available, check weight before loading. If not available, load with appropriate number of pieces. Unload washers into proper baskets for movement to production. Sort all linens according to type and soils. Sort dirty linens as needed. Keep a prepared supply of pre-counted linens to wash. Process stained linens according to established standards. Know and follow the operating function of all washers. Know how to operate washer manually, as well as automatically. Refer to operating manual and supervisor for specific information or questions. Press and fold all linens neatly and according to guidelines. To ensure the quickest loading and unloading time, always have pre-counted soil carts available for loading and have empty carts available for unloading. Report all damages, hazards or defective equipment to supervisor. Stock linens for distribution. Keep up the laundry room at all times, ensuring cleanliness and proper maintenance. Efficiently operate ironer. Cordially, quickly and efficiently honor all guest requests for irons, pillows, etc., within ten (10) minutes of request. Keep daily log of the number of loads for the washers and dryers. Keep totals separately for each month and submit to supervisor. Know chemicals used in washing and the related hazards. Work closely with supervisor and chemical supplier to obtain the best products and operating formulas. Control quantities of supplies as recommended by chemical supplier with approval of Executive Housekeeper or Assistant. Be familiar with wash temperatures in formulas and check temperature gauges for control. Perform other duties as requested by management.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED certification helpful or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred. At least one (1) year of previous hotel or industrial experience desired.
Physical Demands:
Lift and carry heavy loads of linens of approximately forty (40) pounds. Push heavy linen carts of approximately one hundred (100) pounds. Bend, pull, stoop, stretch, and move to shake, sort, wash, dry, load, fold, inspect and stack linens. Ability to be on your feet throughout the entire shift. Work around heated and/or cold areas.
