POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT A
Sylvan Dale Weekend Wrangler will care-take the herd, maintain a clean and organized facility, guide guests on trail and in the arena to provide a quality western horsemanship experience on Saturday and Sundays! To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Responsibilities:
- Guide trail rides so as to provide a safe and enjoyable experience.
- Instruct western riding for all ages and abilities.
- Facilitate horse program activities
- Feed, groom, and tack horses,
- Maintain the stable area to meet SDR standards.
- Ride young horses in training. Condition horses for trail riding by guests of all experience levels, at all paces and over all types of terrain.
- Move the herd from pasture to barn and back.
- Maintain the tack room, tack and equipment in a clean and orderly manner. Repair riding equipment and gear such as saddles, stirrups, and bridles.
- Assist in the care of the herd (hay, feeding and supplements, mucking pens, etc.)
- Monitor horse behavior and report any unusual activity or health concerns.
- Follow safety protocols to ensure the welfare of the horse and rider.
