Job Description
FULL-TIME
One Three Year Old, UWS & Inwood Overview This sweet, co-parenting family is seeking a full-time nanny for their wonderful 3-year-old daughter. Mom lives on the UWS and Dad lives in Inwood. The position is very child-focused and centered around the co-parenting schedule - two days at Mom's house, two days at Dad's house, and then three days at Mom's, then switch. The nanny will work at both Mom's and Dad's residences, helping to be a consistent companion for the girl. The girl is in a lot of independent classes at the moment. She will go to Pre-K starting in September 2027, at which point the nanny's schedule could drop to part-time, so this is not a position for candidates looking for a multi year full-time commitment. The Ideal Candidate for this Job If you have experience working with co-parenting parents, that's a huge bonus! If not, that's okay; however intuitively knowing how professionalism, sensitivity, discretion, and intuition play into this role is a must. The nanny will be working at both Mom and Dad's residences and will be the constant for their daughter. Direct, thoughtful, and supportive communication skills are also a must! Beyond that, somebody active, creative, warm, and fun, who has a genuine love for children this age! The girl loves dance, singing, and art (drawing, painting, and more), so the ability to encourage these is also immensely helpful. Schedule Tuesday and Thursday 11 AM to 7 PM Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 9 AM to 5 PM About the Children Girl, 3 years old: She has severe food allergies. She likes art, music, dancing, and drawing. She's signed up for tap dance classes this summer, and she also does ballet. She recently asked Mom if she can do ballet every day! She's obsessed with the film Frozen, which she got to watch on a snow day (otherwise, they are screen-free households!). She pretends to be Elsa all day long now. One of her stuffed animals is Anna from Frozen, and she'll pretend it's her real sister and that they love each other. She's very intelligent - her big thing right now, her obsession, is Jupiter. Get ready to hear about the gas giant! She's going to recite a bunch of facts to you about how each planet has a lot of mass. She can count to 40. She knows all of her ABCs. She knows the sound that every letter makes. She's very curious about everything and how everything works. She wants to be engaged - in some ways that makes this job easier, and in some ways it makes it harder. You're always on with her! She loves books, reading, and going to the library. Responsibilities This is a child focused position, but during nap time, Mom may ask for some helpful tasks. For example, folding the girl's laundry and putting it away. Unloading and reloading the dishwasher is also helpful. You'll also need to make snacks for the girl - because of her allergies, she can't eat things typically purchased while out. Dad loves to cook and bake and experiment, so he'll probably do those things at his house, but at Mom's it's helpful. That said, the girl loves to bake, so feel free to involve her! Allergy free muffins and allergy free scones. Mom may ask you stop by the store and pick some items up from the grocery store from time to time. Beyond that, you'll be committed to continuing to ignite her curiosity and and answer her questions about the world! Push into her interests and curiosities. Additional Information The girl has many, many food allergies and illness-triggered asthma, so candidates must be comfortable with the possibility of administering an EpiPen or inhaler (though neither of those has been needed yet, and hopefully it stays that way!). This position will be paid on the books, no exceptions.
