Job Description
We are a premier custom menswear business located in the heart of River North, Chicago, seeking an experienced and skilled tailor to join our team on a full-time basis. You will work out of our fully operational, in-house tailor shop attached to our showroom — a professional, well-equipped environment designed to support high-end garment work at every level. This is a rare opportunity to bring your craft to a business that genuinely values it. We work with discerning clients who expect precision and excellence, and we need a tailor who takes pride in delivering exactly that. What you'll be doing Performing high-end alterations on custom and made-to-measure garments for our clientele Collar roll adjustments — reshaping and setting the roll line for proper lapel behavior Shortening sleeves from the shoulder — maintaining sleeve head integrity and pitch Chest alterations — suppression, dart work, and structural adjustments to the front body Trouser hemming — including various finishes (plain, cuff, blind hem) Taking in and letting out jacket sides while preserving the original seam structure Waist suppression, seat adjustments, and trouser tapering as needed Consulting directly with clients on fit issues when appropriate What we're looking for 5+ years of professional tailoring experience, preferably in a menswear or bespoke environment Demonstrated ability to perform complex structural alterations (shoulder work, chest, collar) Proficiency with both hand-sewing and machine work Strong understanding of how a suit or sport coat is constructed — not just how to alter it Attention to detail, a clean workspace, and pride in your finished work Ability to manage multiple garments and meet turnaround deadlines Professional, client-facing demeanor Compensation & benefits $85,000 base salary, commensurate with experience Performance-based bonus opportunities Health, dental, and vision benefits Paid time off and holidays Work in a fully equipped, professional tailor shop — no cramped back-room setup Stable, growing business with a loyal client base
