Job Description
Overview:
Worlds of Fun's Costume Seamstresses and Tailors create the magic that glitter across the stage at our live shows and events across the park. A creative and open mind is key to excelling in this energetic role.Responsibilities:
Building and constructing of all costuming in the Entertainment Department, including Shows, Characters, Special Events such as Halloween Haunt. Take measurements, pattern, cut, stitch, fit, and alter all costuming as required by the designer. Maintaining a safe workplace throughout the department. Interact personally with other Ambassadors and Entertainment Performers.Qualifications:
Knowledge in garment construction including good understanding of sewing and use of commercial patterns. Knowledge of industrial and commercial sewing machines, sergers, blind hemmer, etc. Understanding of taking measurements, marking garments for alterations, and altering garments. Ability to keep working areas clean and organized with a strong attention to detail. Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to collaborate with designers and other costume builders on projects. Knowledge of stage costumes and quick-change techniques is helpful but not required. Willingness to learn new techniques and expand sewing skills while working with a wide range of fabrics and materials. Ability to work as a Show Dresser in entertainment venues as needed. Ability to work nights, weekends, and holiday periods to meet business needs. Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education, and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial lawSimilar jobs in Kansas City, MO
