Tailor, Alterations specialist

Job Summary We are seeking a independent contractor for Tailor, Alterations Specialist to join our drop off for dry cleaning store at Hell's Kitchen area. Your expertise in garment construction, sewing techniques, and customer service will help elevate our reputation for quality and personalized service. Duties Measure customers accurately to determine alterations needed, ensuring a perfect fit. Use sewing machines and hand-sewing techniques to modify garments according to specifications. Perform garment construction tasks such as hemming, taking in or letting out seams, and resizing clothing items. Consult with customers to understand their preferences and provide expert recommendations on alterations. Maintain a clean, organized workspace and ensure all tools and equipment are in excellent condition. Follow safety procedures when operating sewing machines and other equipment. Complete all alteration tasks efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards. Skills Proven experience in garment alteration, tailoring, or fashion retail environments. Strong sewing skills with proficiency in operating sewing machines and hand-sewing techniques. Knowledge of garment construction principles and fabric types. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally. Familiarity with sewing machine maintenance and safety protocols. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced retail setting while maintaining attention to detail. Experience & Expertise Proven experience working with luxury or couture garments (bridal preferred) Mastery of tailoring, garment construction, and fine finishing techniques Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to excellence Polished communication skills and a professional, client-focused approach Additional Details Flexible time management is available Work as partnership
