Responsibilities Measure customers accurately to determine alteration needs and discuss options clearly. Use sewing machines and hand-sewing techniques to modify garments according to specifications. Perform alterations such as hemming, taking in or letting out seams, adjusting waistbands, and repairing tears or damages. Ensure all garments meet quality standards through careful inspection before returning to customers. Maintain a clean, organized workspace with all sewing tools and materials readily accessible. Communicate effectively with customers about progress, timelines, and any additional adjustments needed. Keep detailed records of alterations performed for each customer to ensure consistency and accountability. Requirements Proven experience in garment alteration or tailoring within a fashion retail setting or similar environment. Proficiency with sewing machines, hand-sewing techniques, and garment construction principles. Strong understanding of fabric types, sewing patterns, and garment fitting adjustments. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to listen carefully and communicate clearly. Basic math skills for taking measurements, calculating fabric needs, and adjusting patterns accurately. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Knowledge of fashion retail operations is preferred but not required; enthusiasm for fashion is essential.
