This role requires strong sewing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with a variety of fabrics and clothing types. Responsibilities Measure clients and assess garment fit to determine necessary alterations Perform adjustments such as hemming, taking in or letting out seams, shortening sleeves, and resizing garments Repair damaged clothing, including fixing zippers, seams, and linings Work with a variety of fabrics, including delicate and specialty materials Use sewing machines and hand-stitching techniques with precision Ensure all finished garments meet quality standards and client expectations Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including proper handling of sewing equipment and materials Communicate clearly with clients or team members about alteration needs and timelines Inspect completed products for defects, ensuring all garments meet quality expectations Use basic math skills to measure fabric, calculate seam allowances, and ensure proper sizing throughout the production process Experience Proven experience in sewing and garment alterations Familiarity with operating various sewing machines and tools used Knowledge of diffrent fabric types, patterns, and sewing techniques Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity Ability to take accurate measurements Good communication skills for collaborating with team members or clients Basic math skills for measurements, sizing, and pattern adjustments Time management skills and ability to meet deadlines Customer service skills (for client-facing roles)

Work Enviroment:

Alteration seamstresses may work in tailoring shops, dry cleaners, and retail stores. The role often involves sitting for extended periods and operating sewing equipment.
