Position Summary The Trade Apprentice is an entry-level role designed to provide hands-on training and skill development in the upholstery or cutting trades. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals, gaining proficiency in essential techniques, tools, and processes required for cutting materials or upholstering furniture with precision and craftsmanship. Position Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Gain hands-on experience with tools and equipment used in upholstery or cutting, such as staple guns, sewing machines, and foam cutters. Gain expertise in upholstering furniture, including stretching, fitting, and securing materials over frames, and performing repairs or restorations. Study and practice different upholstery methods, including tufting, pleating, and padding. Learn to accurately cut to specifications, contributing to the overall quality and craftsmanship of the final product. Train on how to accurately measure and mark materials before cutting, ensuring precision and adherence to design plans. Learn to inspect cut pieces for accuracy and quality, adjusting as needed to meet standards. Work with and learn from senior upholsterers or senior cutters in various tasks, including measuring and cutting fabric. Help with the assembly and disassembly of furniture pieces. Select and prepare materials, such as fabrics, leathers, and padding, for upholstery projects. Learn to maintain an organized inventory of supplies and tools. Learn how to inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and customer specifications. Assist in making adjustments and repairs as needed. Participate in ongoing training sessions and workshops to improve trade-specific knowledge and skills. Adhere to all safety guidelines and keep work area in a clean and orderly manner. High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Basic knowledge of fabric and use of upholstery or cutting hand tools is a plus. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Position Hiring Range The hiring pay range provides a good faith estimate of the salary or hourly wage that Living Spaces expects to pay for the position upon hire. Pay will be determined by several factors, including, but not limited to: applicant's education, relevant work experience, knowledge, applicable and relevant skills and abilities, market demand, Company budget, as well as internal equity and alignment with geographic market data. $17.40 - $23.25 Overtime pay is available for eligible, non-exempt Team Members. Reimbursement for expenses as required by applicable law and Company policy. Retail, Guest Services and Distribution Center Team Members are eligible to receive team bonus based on meeting specific goals and KPI's.
