POSITION SUMMARY
The Furniture Delivery Driver & Upholstery Assistant is responsible for safely transporting custom furniture and reupholstered pieces to and from client locations while protecting the company's brand, property, and reputation. This role also supports the upholstery team with furniture preparation, production support, and completion tasks while helping maintain a clean, organized, and efficient warehouse environment. This position requires physical strength, attention to detail, disciplined time management, professionalism inside clients' homes, and a willingness to learn upholstery-related processes. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Driving, Delivery, and Installation Operations Safely operate a company cargo van or delivery truck Load, secure, and transport furniture without damage Unload and place furniture carefully at client locations Position furniture inside customer homes as directed Assemble or reassemble furniture when required Install legs, cushions, backs, hardware, or removable components as needed Navigate narrow streets, rural roads, steep hills, and high-traffic residential areas Follow daily delivery schedules and meet time expectations Perform basic pre-trip vehicle inspections Maintain vehicle cleanliness inside and out Report vehicle concerns immediately Document deliveries and note any damage or issues Utilize proper lifting techniques at all times Use moving blankets, straps, dollies, and other equipment safely Follow company safety procedures during loading and unloading
CUSTOMER INTERACTION RESPONSIBILITIES
Represent Artisan Interiors professionally at all times Enter client homes respectfully and courteously Confirm delivery items with customers Communicate clearly and calmly Notify supervisor immediately of any issues during delivery Never argue with or escalate conflict with customers
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Upholstery Preparation and Completion Support Preparation Tasks Photograph furniture using company iPad before disassembly Remove fabric, staples, and upholstery materials carefully Avoid damaging wood frames during removal Assist upholsterers with furniture teardown and preparation Organize materials, supplies, and hardware Prepare furniture for production scheduling Maintain clean and organized work areas Completion Tasks Dust and clean finished furniture Polish and perform minor touch-ups as directed Photograph completed pieces prior to delivery Assist with furniture staging and delivery preparation Learn basic upholstery procedures under supervision
TERTIARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Warehouse and Facility Maintenance Maintain a clean and organized warehouse Keep workrooms and showroom areas orderly Assist with moving furniture within the facility Dispose of debris and materials properly Maintain bathrooms and common areas as needed Assist with general operational tasks assigned by management
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This is a physically demanding role.
Employee must be able to:
Lift and carry heavy furniture with a partner Safely maneuver items weighing 100 pounds or more repeatedly Perform team lifts when required Bend, squat, crawl, and climb as needed Stand and work for an 8-hour shift Work in hot summer and cold winter warehouse conditions
QUALIFICATIONS
Valid California Driver's License Clean DMV driving record and ability to maintain insurability under the company's commercial auto insurance policy Ability to read, write, and speak English Ability to follow structured processes and instructions Strong attention to detail Professional demeanor inside clients' homes Comfortable using smartphones and tablets for photographs, navigation, and delivery documentation Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening Must be willing to participate in post-accident, reasonable suspicion, or other drug testing as permitted by applicable law
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience driving cargo vans or box trucks Delivery or moving experience Warehouse experience Basic hand tool familiarity Experience assembling or disassembling furniture Experience working in furniture manufacturing, upholstery, moving, delivery, or construction environments

Candidates may be asked to participate in activities such as: Loading and unloading furniture Safe lifting and carrying techniques Furniture preparation and teardown tasks Basic hand tool usage Warehouse organization and cleanup Following workplace safety procedures Participation in the skill assessment and working interview does not guarantee employment. Final hiring decisions will be based on the candidate's overall qualifications, interview performance, skill assessment results, references, driving record, drug screening results, and overall fit with Artisan Interiors' culture and operational needs.
PROBATIONARY PERIOD
The first 60 days of employment are probationary. During this time, performance, attendance, safety, and overall fit will be evaluated.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS
Employment with Artisan Interiors Upholstery & Design is at-will. Either the employee or the company may terminate employment at any time, with or without cause or notice, subject to applicable law.
Pay:
