Wood & Craft Shop Assistant Are you highly organized, detail-oriented, and enjoy a hands-on, fast-paced environment? We are looking for an energetic Production Assistant to be an essential part of our team, assisting with everything from shop maintenance to the final glue-up and finishing of our custom wood and craft items. This role is perfect for a dependable self-starter who is eager to learn and grow. Key Responsibilities This role includes a mix of general shop support and specialized production tasks: Production & Finishing Focus
Glue-Up and Assembly:
Precisely apply glue and clamp various components (primarily wood) for curing, ensuring strong and clean joints.
Painting and Coating:
Prepare surfaces (sanding, masking) and apply paint, stain, sealant, or glaze using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment (training provided).
Quality Control:
Inspect assembled and finished pieces to ensure they meet our high standards for alignment, durability, and flawless aesthetics.
Packaging:
Assist with preparing finished crafts for shipment or delivery. General Shop Support
Organization & Maintenance:
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace at all times, including sweeping, tidying, and managing waste.
Material Prep:
Assist artisans with basic prep work, such as cutting materials to size, simple sanding, and sorting.
Inventory & Logistics:
Help manage the inventory of raw materials and finished goods, and assist with unloading material deliveries.
Tool Care:
Perform basic cleaning and maintenance of shop tools and machinery (e.g., dust collection systems). Qualifications
Experience:
Prior hands-on experience in a workshop, craft, or detailed production environment (including fine finishing or painting) is highly preferred.
Skills:
- Excellent dexterity and sharp attention to detail—this is critical for our final products.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions accurately for both assembly and finishing.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work consistently and efficiently.
- Physically able to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
