Job Description

Trombone Bakery, located within Common Restaurant in downtown Savannah, is excited to expand our team! We are seeking a skilled and creative Confectionist. This is a specialized role designed for someone who thrives in a team-oriented environment where every day brings a new creative challenge. The Confectionist will be responsible for assisting the Executive Bakery Chef in producing various confections, sugar work, cake decorating, and may assist in completing custom cakes for special orders and private events.
Key Responsibilities Chocolate Artistry:
Expertly temper chocolate for bonbons, garnishes, and decorative elements.
Confectionery Production:
Prepare a variety of ganaches, caramels, and specialized fillings.
Custom Cake Design:
Assist to create and execute custom cake orders from concept to completion, including structural builds and advanced decorating techniques.
Quality & Consistency:
Maintain the highest standards of aesthetic presentation and flavor profile for all restaurant dessert offerings and custom orders.
Qualifications Experience:
2+ years of professional experience in high-end pastry, confectionery, or cake decorating or a degree in a related field.
Technical Skill:
Advanced knowledge of chocolate science, pastry ratios, and sugar chemistry.
Detail-Oriented:
A "perfectionist" mindset when it comes to piping, leveling, and finishing touches.
Collaborative Spirit:
Ability to work efficiently within a small bakery and shared prep kitchen environment. Ability to stand for long periods of time without a break; walk up and down flights of stairs while carrying product and trays; ability to bend, squat, twist, and reach overhead; and ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
