Job Description

Position Summary The Chassis Prep Technician is responsible for preparing OEM vehicle chassis for ambulance upfitting by removing factory-installed components, modifying chassis elements, and ensuring the vehicle is ready for body mounting and system installation. This role is critical to build quality, safety, and production flow. Key Responsibilities Remove OEM components such as fuel fillers, exhaust components, wiring, suspension parts, and interior trim as required Strip chassis per build specifications and work instructions Modify chassis components through cutting, drilling, grinding, or relocation as required Tag, store, or dispose of removed components per procedures Perform basic chassis preparation including cleaning, deburring, and corrosion protection Use hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment safely Read and follow chassis prep drawings, instructions, and torque specifications Identify and report damaged components, missing parts, or build issues Maintain organized work areas and follow 5S standards Adhere to all safety policies and PPE requirements Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required 1+ year of experience in manufacturing, automotive, or mechanical work preferred Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn Ability to use hand tools and power tools Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work under vehicles Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in physically demanding environments Dependable attendance and strong work ethic Preferred Experience Experience working on vehicle chassis or upfitting Familiarity with OEM chassis platforms (Ford, Chevy, RAM, Freightliner) Experience using grinders, drills, and cutting tools Understanding of basic torque and fastener standards Work Environment Vehicle manufacturing and upfitting environment Exposure to noise, dust, tools, and heavy components PPE required Why Join Us Hands-on role supporting ambulance builds from the ground up Opportunity to grow into skilled chassis or installation roles Stable manufacturing environment with advancement opportunities Competitive pay and benefits
