Coil + Drift creates vividly three-dimensional lighting and furniture intended to inspire human connection. The Role We are seeking a Machining + Preparation Fabricator to join our fabrication team and help bring Coil + Drift's sculptural lighting and furniture to life. This role centers on metal machining and the preparation of metal and wood components, with hands-on training in our fabrication standards and processes. This is a full-time, on-site position (Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm) at our studio in the Western Catskills. You will work closely with our Head of Production to craft pieces that embody precision, warmth, and presence. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with their hands, values precision, and takes pride in preparing and protecting beautifully made objects. How You'll Shape the Work + Metal Machining:
Machine both unfinished raw metal and vendor-procured parts to specifications set by Product Development. + Component Preparation:
Prepare metal and wood components through sanding, polishing, cutting, bending, drilling, threading, and grinding. + Produce consistent, high-quality work by following established fabrication standards and guidelines. + Meet timeline goals and maintain open, daily communication with the Head of Production. + Uphold Coil + Drift's culture of safety, respect, and craftsmanship.
Where You'll Contribute Production & Craft + Follow production scheduling software from new order intake to final completion. + Maintain a clean, organized, and functional workshop conducive to focused, creative work. + Monitor tools and machines, communicating maintenance needs to the Head of Production. + Watch inventory levels of parts, materials, and supplies and communicate daily needs to Procurement. Collaboration & Development + Take on additional fabrication roles as needed to support the broader team. + Support sales and outreach initiatives when extra hands are needed—our studio operates as a collaborative ecosystem. What You Bring + A high school diploma and a strong attention to detail and organizational skills. + At least 1 year of experience working with one or more of the following: wood, metal machining, metal soldering/welding, electrical, auto body repair, or furniture finishing. We will train you to do the rest. + A desire to work productively, efficiently, and with integrity. + Comfort communicating with teammates, vendors, and collaborators. THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU
