As an upholstery shop supervisor, you'll oversee daily operations of our upholstery department, ensuring top-tier quality and efficiency while meeting production deadlines. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Automotive upholstery, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for craftsmanship. OutbackCustoms.com 1492 Coachworks.com Job Responsibilities Plan, coordinate, and oversee all upholstery department production activities. Maintain production schedules and ensure deadlines are met. Manage and supervise a team of upholsterers in daily operations including assigning and directing work. Coordinate with sales and engineering staff to understand project requirements. Collaborate with other in-house departments (
IE:
Cabinet Shop & Finish Booth) for integrated projects. Manage inventory and order materials as needed. Ensure adherence to safety protocols in the workshop. Communicate in daily meetings the current state of the upholstery department to other leadership staff. Provide estimated production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions. Ensure employees have the proper training, tools, and equipment, including PPE, to work safely and effectively. Work in collaboration with sales & engineering teams for development of new upholstery designs and products. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity. Maintain workplace safety, cleanliness, and compliance with company policies.
Quality Control:
Promote a quality-oriented mindset amongst team members. Conduct regular quality checks to ensure all products meet the company's standards. Effectively coordinate with Quality Control team for inspection of finished upholstered components prior to being sent into production. Address any quality issues promptly and implement corrective actions.
Team Leadership:
Lead and motivate team members to achieve high performance and quality. Provide training and support to team members as needed. Recognize employees' strengths & weaknesses & place them in a role in which they can exceed. Complete annual employee performance evaluations. Address employee complaints and resolve problems. Requirements High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred. Must be able to pass a pre-employments background check & drug screen. Driver's License preferred. Physical Requirements Regular bending at the waist and knees Standing & sitting for extended periods Climbing steps in/out of trailers & motorcoaches Frequent lifting of up to 50lbs. Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperature reaching over 100F during summer season.
Job Details:
Full-Time Pay dependent on experience. Day Shift Monday - Friday 8-10 hours per day This position requires both planned and unplanned overtime to meet production deadlines. Why Join Us? Qualifications Proven experience in upholstery or related fields, with at least 3 years in a supervisory/management role. Must be well versed in upholstery materials and assembly processes/procedures. Experience in a previous leadership position strongly preferred. Previous experience with training and on-boarding of new team members. Strong organizational and leadership skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively. Ability to read and comprehend procedures written or spoken in English. General knowledge of Microsoft Office & Outlook. Experience in digitizing embroidery files & embroidery operating systems a plus. Advanced proficiency in sewing machines and techniques. Ability to read and comprehend blueprints. Ability to assemble and fabricate upholstered products. Experienced with power, pneumatic, and hand tools commonly used for upholstery.
