We have a steady stream of high-quality residential and commercial projects year-round, and we need an experienced craftsman who takes pride in their work to join our team. Please Note:
This is a skilled trade position. We are looking for a true upholsterer, NOT a general shop helper or a laborer.
Job Requirements & Responsibilities:
Complete Teardown & Prep:
Carefully strip furniture down to the frame, inspect for stability, and make minor frame repairs when necessary.
Traditional Foundation Work:
Correctly re-web furniture and tie springs (including traditional 8-way hand-tied systems).
Patterning & Cutting:
Pattern, layout, and precisely cut fabric, leather, and vinyl with a sharp eye for pattern matching, nap orientation, and minimal waste.
Cushion Fabrication:
Build, wrap, and shape high-density foam and dacron cores to create perfect, durable cushions.
Industrial Sewing:
Expertly operate a walking-foot industrial sewing machine to sew zippered box cushions, intricate covers, and perfect welting/piping.
Flawless Final Upholstery:
Stretch, staple, and secure materials cleanly, ensuring crisp corners, straight lines, and professional finishing touches (dust covers, trim, etc.).
Skills & Qualifications:
Proven Upholstery Experience:
3+ years of professional furniture upholstery experience (boat, auto, RV, and custom shop experience is preferred).
Machine Mastery:
Deep proficiency with industrial sewing machines, pneumatic staple guns, and standard trade hand tools.
Material Knowledge:
Confidence working with a wide range of textiles, from delicate patterns to heavy-duty performance fabrics (like Sunbrella) and vinyl.
Detail-Oriented:
A sharp eye for straight seams, balanced padding, and flawless finishes.
Physical Stamina:
Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy furniture frames, and handle the physical demands of daily shop work. Why Join Our Team?
