In addition to hands-on fabrication and surfacing work, this role is expected to grow into a technical leadership position, helping guide processes, mentor team members, and support planning as the prototyping function scales. Responsibilities (include, but are not limited): Making of molds/tools from existing parts, designs, or from scratch where necessary Working with various materials, such as fiberglass, carbon fiber, and other composite materials Producing parts or components by prepreg, infusion, and wet layup Demolding, trimming, and finishing of fabricated parts Body working/surfacing, painting, and surface corrections where needed Making cold bond and hot bond repairs Rework or fabricate items needed for early development Maintain inventory of raw materials and other requirements to create, fabricate, and prototype new products Working with hazardous materials and using the appropriate PPE equipment Reviewing and interpreting engineering designs and drawings Inspecting and maintaining tools and equipment Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education High School diploma or GED certificate Formal training in Paint, Body, or surfacing Experience Prior hands-on experience fabricating and working on vehicles. Minimum of 5 years of experience working with composite materials Moderate experience with metal working Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and designs via CAD Prior experience leading, mentoring, or training others is preferred. Tools and Equipment Proficient with hand and power tools Proficient with composite fabrication techniques (prepreg, infusion, and wet lay-up) Proficient with surfacing, finishing, and paint-related tools and equipment Proficient with on metalworking tools and processes Personal Passion for automotive design, engineering, and craftsmanship High attention to detail, quality, and finish Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Reliable, innovative, committed self-starter, with a focus on quality. Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills Possess the desire and ability to learn new technologies. $50.00/per hour - $60.00 /per hour. Compensation will vary DOE. At Karma, our base pay is one part of our total rewards package.
