We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Custom Upholsterer to join our growing team in Charleston, SC. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute your craftsmanship to some of the most exclusive, high-performance Land Rovers in the world. Position Overview The Custom Upholsterer will be responsible for the design, fabrication, sewing, pattern making, and installation of premium automotive interiors. This role involves working closely with the design and production teams to bring each client's vision to life — blending traditional craftsmanship with modern materials and techniques. The ideal candidate takes pride in precision, artistry, and the pursuit of excellence in every stitch. Key Responsibilities Design and fabricate bespoke interiors, including seats, door panels, dashboards, consoles, headliners, and trim pieces. Create custom patterns, cut materials, and fit coverings using sketches, templates, and design specifications. Perform upholstery installation, including stretching, gluing, sewing, and stapling materials for a flawless fit and finish. Rebuild and reshape seat frames and cushions using foam padding and contouring for comfort and appearance. Select appropriate materials, threads, and finishes to achieve HIMALAYA's premium aesthetic standards. Repair and restore existing upholstery components to maintain quality and uniformity. Collaborate with the design and production teams to ensure seamless integration of custom interior elements. Maintain a clean, organized workspace and uphold safety and quality standards. Qualifications Proven experience in custom automotive upholstery , preferably in high-end or restoration environments. Expertise in measuring, cutting, sewing, and installing upholstery materials with precision and craftsmanship. Strong understanding of fabrics, leathers, foams, and adhesives used in automotive interiors. Ability to read and interpret sketches, templates, and work orders. Skilled in pattern making and shaping materials to achieve smooth, contoured surfaces. Mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and efficient in completing projects accurately and on schedule. Strong work ethic and ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting. Commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and professional work area.
