Veterinary Assistant or Credentialed Veterinary Technician

Job Overview Paris Veterinary services is actively seeking a full or part time experienced Veterinary Assistant or Credentialed Veterinary Technician. The ideal candidate must have a minimum of three years in clinic hands on experience. This ideal candidate can confidently assist in patient rooms, assist in surgery, place IV catheters, have the ability to draw blood, and run IDEXX in house lab equipment. Must embrace fear free and low stress animal handling. Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques Handle animals safely and confidently, utilizing animal restraint techniques and dog handling skills to ensure their comfort and safety during treatments. Perform laboratory tasks such as sample collection, processing, and running diagnostic tests to support accurate patient assessments. Maintain detailed medical records, update patient charts, and document treatments using veterinary terminology and animal physiology knowledge. Support pet care activities including grooming, feeding, administering medications, and monitoring recovery from anesthesia or illness. Take radiographs (X-ray) following proper safety protocols. Manage kennel areas efficiently, ensuring animals are comfortable, clean, and well-cared for with animal husbandry expertise. Skills Proven kennel experience combined with animal handling proficiency across various species including dogs, cats, and large animal. Strong understanding of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and animal physiology to assist in clinical procedures effectively. Credentialed Technician only- Experience with dental terminology and procedures to support dental cleanings and examinations. Veterinary critical care experience that enables quick thinking in emergency situations and animal catheterization skills. Laboratory experience including sample collection, processing, and understanding of diagnostic testing protocols.
