Specialty Float Veterinary Assistant (Internal Medicine & Surgery) 1st Pet Veterinary Centers Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM About the
Role:
1st Pet Veterinary Centers is looking for a motivated and adaptable Specialty Float Veterinary Assistant to support both our Internal Medicine and Surgery teams . This is a dynamic role ideal for someone who enjoys variety in their day, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care. As a float assistant, you'll play a key role in supporting workflow, assisting with procedures, and ensuring both departments run smoothly. Your ability to shift between teams and anticipate needs will make a direct impact on patient care and team success.
Requirements:
What You'll Do:
Support veterinarians and technicians with patient care across Internal Medicine and Surgery Prepare patients for exams, diagnostics, and surgical procedures Assist with safe and effective animal handling and restraint (fear-free techniques encouraged) Assist with anesthesia preparation and patient recovery under supervision Clean, sterilize, and maintain surgical instruments following hospital protocols Turn over (flip) surgical suites efficiently between procedures to maintain workflow and readiness Maintain clean, organized treatment and procedure areas Stock and prepare supplies to support daily operations Assist with diagnostics (lab work, imaging support, sample collection as directed) Help manage patient flow between departments to maximize efficiency Step in where needed to support the team during high-volume periods
What We're Looking For:
Previous veterinary assistant experience required (specialty or ER experience strongly preferred) Strong animal handling and restraint skills Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment Positive attitude and strong team-oriented mindset Willingness to learn and adapt across multiple specialty services Why Join 1st Pet?
