The ideal candidate will have a passion for cats and previous veterinary or animal rescue experience. This role involves working closely with veterinarians to provide high-quality medical and wellness care to cats, ensuring their health and well-being.
Essential Duties:
Be able to work independently to monitor the health and wellness of all cats in the rescue and follow established protocols to provide necessary care. Assist veterinarians in all aspects of maintaining feline wellness-- including laboratory diagnostics, fluid therapy, urgent care as necessary, and the administration of prescribed medications and clinic scheduling. TPR, administer vaccines and other medications, and implant microchips Check in/check out patients for care. Maintain all records and documentation in our clinic management software. Offer an excellent experience every time to our fosters and volunteers. Offer compassionate communication and clear home-care directions for foster cats. Candidates should possess a background in veterinary medicine or animal care.
Preferred skills include:
Proficiency in low-stress/Fear Free feline handling techniques. Knowledge of common feline diseases, conditions, and health concerns. Familiarity with veterinary pharmaceuticals and their administration. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while demonstrating excellent communication skills.
Qualifications and Experience:

Licenses:
High school diploma/GED Valid driver's license required Preferred completion of a veterinary assistant or technician program OR experience at a veterinary hospital or animal shelter.
Knowledge / Skills

Abilities:
Able to speak, read, write, and understand English. Spanish language is helpful. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Explorer; able to learn other software programs as necessary. Proficient with or able to learn/use veterinary software(s).

Regular attendance, punctuality, and access to reliable transportation are required. Work Environment /
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
