50/hr differential for hours worked between 6pm-6am

Full-Time | 4/10 hour shifts Sage Veterinary Centers in Concord, CA is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our Internal Medicine specialty team . This role supports board-certified veterinary internists in a fast-paced, high-acuity specialty hospital environment. We are looking for a skilled Veterinary Assistant with strong animal handling, laboratory sample collection, client communication, and medical record management experience. Candidates with experience in internal medicine, emergency, or specialty veterinary hospitals are strongly encouraged to apply. This position may require the ability to flex or rotate into other specialty departments as hospital needs change. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians in internal medicine diagnostics and treatments Perform animal restraint and handling for dogs and cats with varying medical conditions Collect and process laboratory samples (blood, urine, fecal, cytology) Support client communication under the direction of medical staff Maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR) documentation Assist with endoscopy, ultrasound, and other scope-based procedures Prepare, clean, and maintain medical equipment and instruments Support radiology and diagnostic imaging procedures following safety protocols Monitor hospitalized patients and assist with ongoing treatments Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked treatment areas Assist with patient admission, discharge, and hospital flow coordination Provide support across multiple departments when needed (internal medicine, surgery, emergency, etc.) Required Qualifications Strong skills in animal handling and restraint Experience with laboratory sample collection and processing Familiarity with veterinary medical terminology and hospital workflow Ability to work in a fast-paced specialty or emergency environment Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) preferred High school diploma or equivalent required Preferred Qualifications Internal Medicine veterinary experience Specialty or referral hospital experience Emergency veterinary experience (ER/CCU) Endoscopy or advanced diagnostic support experience Physical Requirements Ability to lift 40-50 lbs with assistance Frequent standing, walking, bending, and restraint of animals Exposure to anesthesia, diagnostic equipment, and medical materials Benefits Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) retirement plan options Paid time off (PTO) and paid holidays Continuing education (CE) support Uniform allowance Employee pet care discounts Career growth in veterinary specialty medicine Collaborative and supportive hospital culture Why Join Sage Concord Sage Concord is a leading veterinary specialty and emergency hospital offering advanced diagnostics, surgery, internal medicine, oncology, neurology, and critical care services.
