Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment. Perform animal restraint and handling with confidence, ensuring safety for both pets and staff. Manage pet care routines including feeding, grooming, and administering medications as directed. Support laboratory work such as sample collection, processing, and running diagnostic tests to aid in accurate diagnosis. Utilize veterinary terminology and knowledge of animal physiology to accurately document patient histories and clinical notes. Operate imaging equipment like X-ray machines, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed. Maintain cleanliness of kennels, treatment areas, and surgical suites through proper animal husbandry and aseptic techniques. Assist with dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and supporting dental cleanings or treatments. Handle animal catheterization and perform basic animal anatomy assessments to support clinical procedures. Contribute to critical care situations by monitoring vital signs and assisting with emergency interventions as needed. Skills Proven kennel experience combined with animal handling expertise across various species including dogs, cats, and equines. Strong understanding of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and physiology to support clinical workflows effectively. Experience with veterinary critical care practices, including emergency response protocols. Laboratory skills such as sample collection, processing, and running diagnostic tests like X-rays or blood work. Knowledge of pet grooming techniques and dog training to enhance overall pet wellness programs. Familiarity with aseptic techniques essential for surgeries and invasive procedures. Ability to perform animal restraint safely while demonstrating excellent pet care skills. Experience with animal catheterization procedures and maintaining sterile environments during treatments. Understanding of equine care practices is a plus for clinics that serve larger animals. Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and educate pet owners on animal care needs.
