Job Description

Mountain Aire Veterinary Hospital - Paid Summer Veterinary Assistant Internship Program We have proudly provided exceptional veterinary care to the Greater Frazier Mountain community and surrounding areas since the late 80's! Our Paid Summer Internship Program is designed for motivated individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in veterinary medicine, animal care, and hospital operations while working alongside an experienced veterinary team. This internship provides valuable exposure to both small and large animal medicine and is ideal for students pursuing careers in veterinary medicine, veterinary technology, animal science, or related fields.
Internship Responsibilities:
Assist with patient care and treatments. Observe and assist with hospitalized patient monitoring and surgical recovery. Help maintain inventory and stock supplies. Restrain animals during blood draws and nail trims. Assist with routine diagnostic procedures including radiographs, bloodwork, ultrasound, and laboratory testing. Help clean, disinfect, and maintain kennels, exam rooms, and treatment areas. Observe surgical preparation and sterile procedures. Assist with feeding, bathing, and general animal care. Support customer service, front desk operations, marketing and medical records. Gain hands-on exposure to veterinary assistant responsibilities under direct supervision of veterinarians and veterinary technicians.
Qualifications:
Must be 18 years or older. Must be dependable, motivated, and willing to learn. Enjoy working with animals and handling a fast-paced environment. Interest in veterinary medicine, animal science, or healthcare preferred. Previous animal experience is helpful but not required. Ability to meet physical requirements including lifting, standing, walking, and assisting with animal restraint.
Internship Schedule:
Summer seasonal position Alternating 4 days per week 10-hour shifts with occasional Saturday opportunities

Pay:
$18.00 - $27.97 per hour
