Veterinary Assistant

El Gato Veterinary hospital is looking to add a veterinary assistant/ registered veterinary technician to support the existing staff that serve the dogs, cats, and pocket pets of Los Gatos. The ideal candidate would fulfill many roles within the hospital, such as surgery assistance, collecting and performing laboratory tests, patient nursing, triaging patients, emergency care, client support and education, cleaning and restocking the premises as well as working with and support your fellow employees. This individual must be detail-oriented, well organized, multitasker, follow directions, provide and maintain a high standard of patient care, possess great customer service skills, and have fun doing it. Skills

• Strong understanding of veterinary practices and procedures
• Possess veterinary technician skills or a California RVT license
• In-depth knowledge of animal anatomy and physiology
• Experience in pet care and handling various species
• Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a drug test
• Must work well with clients and provide knowledge, care, and compassion.
• Ability to read and write clearly in English
• Must have basic computer skills; experience with EzyVet is preferred
• Skilled in safe and effective animal restraint methods
• Must be able to lift and carry a pet up to 35 lbs. without assistance
