The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and welfare, with experience in various aspects of veterinary practice. This role involves assisting veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing high-quality care to animals, ensuring their comfort and safety during examinations and treatments.
Job Description :
Basic client communication - phone & email interactions & etiquette Basic knowledge of anatomy & terminology, namely orthopedic/musculoskeletal Dog (occasional cat) handling skills, focused on low stress handling Ability to teach basic exercises to dogs & pet owners alike Requirements Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant or in a similar role is preferred Experience in animal handling, including dogs and cats Knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and husbandry practices Familiarity with veterinary terminology and procedures Strong communication skills for interacting with pet owners and team members. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. A compassionate attitude towards animals with a commitment to their welfare.
Job Duties :
Client/Referral DVM communication : Answer phone/return phone calls (secondary task) Respond to emails (secondary task) EMR/Medical record keeping via Shepherd Cloud-based software
Appointment Duties:
Check-in client: record weight, put into exam room, take history Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures as needed, ensuring a calm environment for the animals Administer injectable medications as prescribed by the veterinarian Maintain accurate medical records using veterinary terminology Technician Duties (after completion of on-site training & competence in basic skills): Laser therapy Therapeutic Exercise Shockwave therapy Underwater Treadmill Therapy SQ injections (Librela, Adequan) Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic
Hours :
30-32 hours per week (part-time, flexible) Current hours roughly 8am to 6pm appointments Full time is 35 hours per week
Compensation :
$22-25/hour, no benefits for part time employment Paid Federal Holidays Rehab services at 50% off
Projections :
full time position with benefits in future (timeframe fluid based on growth)
