Job Description
Veterinary Assistant Slaton Veterinary Hospital
- Monitor and record vital signs of animals
- Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian
- Assist with animal catheterization when necessary
Requirements:
- Previous experience in animal handling or veterinary settings preferred
- Knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and husbandry
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques for maintaining a sterile environment
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team
- Certification or degree in Veterinary Technology is a plus

- Join our veterinary team as a Veterinary Technician and contribute to the well-being of animals in our care. We are seeking a dedicated individual with a passion for animal health to assist our veterinarians in providing top-notch care.
- Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians in examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures
- Handle and restrain animals during treatments
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms and treatment areas
- Provide basic animal care including feeding, walking, and grooming
- Perform laboratory tests such as urinalysis and blood counts
- Take digital radiographs
- Administer medications and vaccines under the direction of a veterinarian
- Perform blood draws, cystocentesis and place IV catheters
- Provide nursing care to hospitalized patients
- Maintain accurate medical records
- Educate clients on pet care and medication administration
- Dental cleanings if experienced (a plus)
- Qualifications
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment
- Proficiency in veterinary terminology and procedures
- Knowledge of animal physiology and husbandry
- Previous experience in animal handling or veterinary settings preferred
- Ability to handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately
