Animal Samaritans is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented Veterinary Assistant to join our growing veterinary team full-time. Position Summary Under the direction of the Practice Manager and Doctors of Veterinary Medicine, the Veterinary Assistant supports medical and surgical operations while delivering exceptional client service. This role works closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to ensure safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during exams, treatments, and surgical procedures Monitor pets before, during, and after anesthesia Obtain and record patient vital signs Prepare surgical templates and maintain accurate medical records Administer and prepare vaccines according to protocol Prepare patient medications and maintain pharmacy logs Maintain and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment Assist with patient restraint and aseptic techniques Perform ear cleanings and nail trims Communicate effectively with clients and team members Maintain clean and organized treatment and surgery areas Support front desk and scheduling operations as needed Provide compassionate, professional customer service to clients and pets Qualifications High school diploma required Veterinary experience preferred Knowledge of veterinary software and computer systems preferred Strong communication and customer service skills Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Team-oriented attitude with willingness to learn and grow Dependable attendance and punctuality required Ability to lift up to 40 pounds Must be comfortable working around animals in a clinical setting What We're Looking For Friendly and outgoing personality Compassion for animals and clients Strong attention to detail Positive attitude and professionalism Ability to remain calm under pressure Commitment to teamwork and high-quality patient care Benefits Animal Samaritans offers a comprehensive benefits package including: Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance options 401(k) retirement plan with company match Paid holidays, PTO, and sick time Employee discounts on veterinary services Employee recognition programs Schedule Full-Time Must be available for flexible scheduling, including occasional extended hours as needed Apply Today Join a mission-driven organization dedicated to serving pets and the community.
