Veterinary Technician / Veterinary Assistant (Experienced) - General Practice & Urgent Care Overview Join our dynamic veterinary team as an experienced Veterinary Technician / Veterinary Assistant in a fast-paced small animal (dogs and cats only) General Practice and Urgent Care hospital in Tracy, CA. In this role, you will play an important part in delivering high-quality patient care, supporting veterinarians with both routine and urgent cases, and helping maintain efficient daily workflow within the hospital. We are looking for a motivated, dependable, and experienced team member who thrives in a high-volume environment, works well under pressure, and is passionate about patient care and teamwork. Strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask are essential. Weekend availability is required. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced technician or assistant looking to grow within a progressive, team-oriented practice. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, procedures, and urgent care cases with efficiency and accuracy Provide support with surgical and dental procedures, including patient preparation, monitoring assistance, and recovery care Safely restrain and handle canine and feline patients to ensure patient and staff safety Place IV catheters, perform venipuncture, collect diagnostic samples, and administer medications as directed Obtain high-quality radiographs with proper positioning and technique Assist with laboratory testing and operate in-house diagnostic equipment Monitor hospitalized patients and provide attentive nursing care Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using proper veterinary terminology Assist with triage and stabilization of urgent or emergency cases as needed Prepare and maintain treatment areas, surgical suites, and equipment Communicate effectively with veterinarians, technicians, assistants, and reception staff to support workflow and patient care Help educate clients on medications, treatments, discharge instructions, and preventative care when needed Skills & Qualifications Minimum 1-2 years of veterinary technician or assistant experience in a small animal practice preferred Experience in a high-volume GP, urgent care, or emergency setting is strongly preferred Strong knowledge of animal handling, restraint, and patient care for dogs and cats Proficiency in venipuncture, catheter placement, radiology, laboratory procedures, and medication administration preferred Surgical and anesthesia monitoring experience is a plus Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced environment Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety Excellent communication and teamwork skills Reliable, punctual, and professional attitude Must be available to work weekends
Pay:
$18.00 - $22.00 per hour
