Job description Do you want to help fight pet overpopulation while working in a friendly environment and having a great work/life balance (3-day weekends every week and a 4-day weekend once a month)? If so, you've found the right place. Our Clinic NoCo Spay & Neuter is an independently owned small practice. Our mission is to provide affordable, high quality spay and neuter services for dogs and cats. We provide services to public clients and our rescue partners. We offer a friendly, close-knit workplace where there is opportunity to learn and enhance your skill set. We do not tolerate drama or gossip. Job Description We are looking for a veterinary assistant to help with our surgical program. A typical day will begin with assisting with patient drop-offs, weighing patients, and helping to fill prescriptions. Next, you will assist with each surgery
  • this includes patient preparation, anesthesia monitoring, and recovery. Other tasks throughout the day will include administering vaccinations, preparing surgical packs, restocking supplies, cleaning, and making appointments as needed. At the end of the day, you will assist with patient discharges. Please note that we are a smoke-free workplace
  • no smoking or vaping is allowed on company property. Schedule Full-time (32-36 hours/week). Our hours are 7:50am
  • 5:00pm Monday-Thursday (with one Thursday a month off), although on occasion hours may be longer. Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Veterinary assistant experience is preferred, but we will consider training a candidate that has dog and cat handling experience. Pay will depend on qualifications.
  • US work authorization required Skills (these are preferred skills, but we will consider training if you have only some of these skills!)
  • ability to read canine and feline body language
  • experience working with fearful and/or aggressive pets
  • experience with venipuncture, drawing up and administering medications and vaccinations
  • experience with anesthesia induction, monitoring, and maintenance
  • familiarity with medical terminology and record keeping Attributes We Are Looking For

  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and be able to kneel to clean cages and restrain animals
