We bring compassionate, high-quality veterinary care directly into the homes of dogs and cats, providing a low-stress, personalized experience for both pets and their people. We're looking for a caring, detail-oriented Veterinary Assistant to join our team and help us deliver exceptional in-home care. Job Summary As a Veterinary Assistant with Urban Tails, you will provide support to our veterinarian and veterinary technician during mobile house-call appointments, helping deliver exceptional care to pets and their families in the comfort of their homes. You will play an important role in patient care, animal handling, client communication, and ensuring visits run smoothly and efficiently. In addition, you will assist our surgical team during procedures performed at our surgical center, helping maintain a safe, organized, and high-quality surgical environment. This unique role combines clinical support, client interaction, and surgical assistance across both mobile and surgical care settings. Key Responsibilities Assist during exams and procedures by preparing instruments, equipment, and treatment areas in client homes. Safely handle and restrain dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments. Administer medications under veterinary supervision and ensure accurate documentation. Work closely under the supervision of the surgical technician to assist with anesthetic procedures, surgical prep, and post-operative care. Maintain accurate medical records and support client communication. Educate pet owners on routine care, medications, and post-treatment instructions. Help maintain cleanliness and sterility of equipment and mobile clinic tools using aseptic techniques. Support with loading/unloading equipment and driving or navigating between appointments as needed. Qualifications & Skills Prior experience in a veterinary assistant role (required). Skilled in handling and restraining dogs and cats. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and basic pharmacology. Familiarity with aseptic technique and infection control protocols. Comfortable assisting with surgical procedures and anesthesia under supervision. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Self-motivated, reliable, and comfortable working independently and on the road. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred. Why Join Urban Tails?
