Wellness Veterinary Assistant Pueblo | Veterinary Services Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) Are you passionate about making veterinary care accessible to the community? The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) is seeking a Wellness Veterinary Assistant to support our community-focused Wellness Clinics. As a Wellness Veterinary Assistant, you directly support this mission by ensuring animals receive high-quality preventive care, humane handling, and professional medical support. Your work helps keep pets healthy, families together, and communities safer. What You'll Do You'll play a key role in delivering accessible, high-quality veterinary services through our Wellness Clinics, including: Patient & Medical Support Assist veterinarians during exams and surgeries Provide safe, low-stress animal restraint Prepare surgical patients and monitor recovery Administer treatments and fill medications as directed Draw blood and assist with in-house or external lab testing Assist with euthanasia as required Client Care & Education Provide friendly, professional service to the public Explain medical conditions, procedures, risks, and aftercare Discuss program options and help clients make informed decisions Schedule appointments and manage intake/discharge processes Records & Operations Maintain accurate medical records and financial documentation Utilize shelter and scheduling software (Chameleon, Acuity) Restock supplies and maintain a clean, safe clinical environment Follow PPE and sanitation protocols to prevent disease transmission Team & Community Engagement Collaborate with staff and volunteers Support safe workplace practices Share impactful stories and photos with the Philanthropy team to highlight lifesaving work This position is based at our Pueblo Wellness Clinic and may assist at other locations as needed. What We're Looking For High school diploma or equivalent At least one year of customer service experience (veterinary setting preferred) Prior animal handling experience preferred Strong communication and multitasking skills Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment Ability to lift 25-40+ pounds and remain on your feet for extended periods Comfort working around animals, allergens, and cleaning chemicals Evening availability may be required. At least one regular weekend shift will be required.
