Job Description

Job Summary Our team is hiring for an ambitious equine veterinary technician who is passionate about sports medicine and interested in being part of a busy equine veterinary practice In addition to consistent duties on the road seeing cases, we are also part of our home farm's team where we care for and train sport horses for competition. Mostly hunter/jumper with a splash of dressage and young horse/horsemanship opportunities. Spring through fall in Connecticut, winters in Ocala Florida. Opportunity to bring a personal horse. Duties Assist veterinarians with clinical procedures including jogging for lameness exams, restraining for procedures, aseptically preparing joint injections, setting up equipment. Manage laboratory samples and requisitions and perform in house laboratory tests. Assist with billing and data entry into practice management software. Handle horses safely using proper restraint techniques, . Utilize therapies including regenerative laser therapy, Functional Electrical Stimulation therapy, PEMF blankets, and shockwave therapy under the supervision of veterinarian to treat in-house rehabilitation horses. Some opportunities to work independently on outside cases available. Assist as horse show groom approximately 1 week per month and during the winter months in Ocala Florida. Experience Prior equine veterinary experience or horse show groom experience required. Ability to lift 50lbs and to be able to jog horses consistently. Drivers license and clean driving record Ability to drive a truck and trailer is a plus but not required. Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a team environment while managing multiple responsibilities. Strong communication skills for interacting with horse owners and team members alike.
