  • 20/hour (Based on Experience) Countryside Veterinary Hospital is looking to add a compassionate and motivated Veterinary Assistant to our growing team in Shelton, CT.
We are a busy, established small animal practice committed to providing high-quality medicine and exceptional patient care in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. Position Responsibilities Assist veterinarians and technicians with examinations, treatments, and outpatient appointments Restrain patients safely and compassionately during exams and procedures Collect patient histories and communicate effectively with pet owners Prepare exam rooms and maintain treatment area cleanliness and organization Support patient care by assisting with medication administration and treatments as directed Assist with venipuncture, sample collection, and diagnostic procedures when appropriate Prepare patients for surgery and assist with surgical prep and recovery Monitor hospitalized patients and ensure comfort and cleanliness Educate clients on basic at-home care and discharge instructions Maintain accurate medical records and support daily hospital workflow Ideal Candidate Qualifications Minimum 1 year of veterinary assistant experience preferred Comfortable handling and restraining dogs and cats safely Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Dependable, positive attitude, and eager to learn Experience with venipuncture and surgical prep is a plus What We Offer Four 10-hour weekday shifts No weekends Supportive and collaborative hospital culture Opportunities for continued learning and skill development Consistent schedule promoting work-life balance Benefits Competitive compensation plus monthly bonus potential Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company match Paid time off and paid holidays Paid parental leave Annual scrub allowance Employee pet discounts and pet insurance options 24/7 mental health support resources Join a hospital where your skills are valued and your growth is encouraged.
