JOB DESCRIPTION
University of Florida's Veterinary Community Outreach Program (VCOP) is recruiting a veterinary assistant. The VCOP program is designed to introduce students to the challenges of veterinary practice in both community and shelter environments and give experience in spay and neuter techniques plus preventative medicine of canines and felines. Example of Veterinary Assistant Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Patient Care & Husbandry Animal restraint for exams, catheter placements, bandage changes, anesthesia, etc. Obtain vitals such as TPR and record appropriately in medical record Assist with patient intake and discharge Assist with recovery Document in patient's medical record
  • Hospital and Service Cleanliness and Organization Sweeping and moping Maintaining inventory Processing laundry Disinfecting and cleaning equipment regularly Ensuring cage and runs are cleaned daily
  • Client Service/Administrative Support as needed The service receives Monday - Friday.
May require working earlier than 7:45am or later than 5:00pm This is a full-time, benefited position and is considered essential personnel. A post-offer education verification, background check, and health assessment are required.
EXPECTED SALARY
$15-16 /hour
PREFERRED
1-year experience in Veterinary Medicine Certified Veterinary Assistant certification

HEALTH ASSESSMENT REQUIRED
