Veterinary Assistant

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal care and handling, with experience in a veterinary setting. This role is essential in providing support to veterinarians and ensuring the well-being of our animal patients. The Veterinary Assistant will be involved in various tasks that contribute to the smooth operation of the clinic and the health of our animals. Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, providing necessary support and ensuring animal comfort. Perform animal restraint techniques to facilitate examinations and treatments safely. Administer medications as directed by veterinarians, ensuring accurate dosages and proper techniques. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including kennels, examination rooms, and surgical areas. Provide basic grooming and care for animals, including bathing, brushing, and nail trimming. Monitor the health and behavior of animals in the clinic, reporting any concerns to veterinary staff. Handle laboratory samples with care, performing basic laboratory tests as required. Utilize veterinary terminology effectively when communicating with team members and clients. Assist with front desk duties as needed, including scheduling appointments and managing client communications. Experience Candidates should possess a combination of relevant experience in veterinary settings.

Preferred qualifications include:

Kennel experience or animal husbandry background. Previous veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience. Familiarity with veterinary critical care practices. Experience handling various types of animals, including equine. Knowledge of animal physiology, anatomy, and catheterization techniques. Proficiency in aseptic techniques for surgical assistance.
