Job Description

Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to animals and supporting our veterinary staff in delivering exceptional services. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about animal welfare and have a strong desire to work in a fast-paced veterinary environment. Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring the comfort and safety of animals. Handle and restrain dogs and other animals as needed for examinations, treatments, and procedures. Administer medications as directed by veterinarians, including injections and oral medications. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including surgical areas and examination rooms. Perform laboratory tasks such as collecting samples, running tests, and processing results. Help with animal catheterization when required, ensuring proper techniques are followed. Provide front desk support by greeting clients, scheduling appointments, and managing patient records. Educate pet owners on proper pet care practices and post-treatment instructions. Monitor the health and behavior of animals in the clinic, reporting any concerns to the veterinary team. Requirements Spanish and English speaking Ability to perform tasks efficiently and accurately. Strong skills in dog handling and animal handling; comfort with various breeds is essential. A compassionate attitude towards animals and their owners is essential for success in this role. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or holidays if needed. We rotate Saturday half-day shifts. Familiarity with veterinary critical care practices is an advantage.
