Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and welfare, providing support to veterinarians in the examination, treatment, and care of pets. This role requires a blend of technical skills and interpersonal abilities to ensure the well-being of animals and a positive experience for pet owners. Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures by preparing instruments and equipment. Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian, ensuring proper dosages and methods. Provide excellent pet care, including feeding, bathing, and exercising animals as needed. Maintain cleanliness in the clinic, including kennels and treatment areas, to ensure a sanitary environment. Handle animals safely during examinations and treatments, employing appropriate restraint techniques. Help the front desk as needed with responsibilities such as scheduling appointments, checking in clients, and processing payments. Utilize veterinary terminology effectively when communicating with team members and pet owners. Assist in laboratory tasks such as collecting samples for testing and performing basic laboratory procedures. Skills Proficiency in medication administration and understanding of veterinary terminology is essential. Experience in animal handling, including knowledge of equine care is preferred. Familiarity with kennel operations and maintaining a clean environment for animal housing is important. Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with pet owners and team members alike. Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated to complete tasks independently.
