Job Description

Company Overview We are a full-service small animal veterinary hospital dedicated to providing exceptional medical, surgical, diagnostic, and dental care to pets in the Anamosa, Cedar Rapids and surrounding area. Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Veterinary Assistant or Technician to join our compassionate team. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where animal welfare is the top priority. The successful candidate will support veterinarians in providing high-quality care, perform technical procedures, and ensure a safe and comfortable experience for our patients. Duties Assist veterinarians with animal restraint, handling, and positioning during examinations and procedures. Perform laboratory tests, prepare samples, and operate diagnostic equipment such as X-ray machines. Maintain cleanliness and aseptic techniques in treatment areas, surgical suites, and laboratories. Support pet care activities including grooming, feeding, administering medications, and monitoring recovery. Assist with dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and supporting dental cleanings or treatments. Contribute to patient record keeping by documenting treatments, observations, and laboratory results accurately. Experience Prior kennel experience or hands-on animal handling skills are highly valued. Experience with veterinary critical care procedures and laboratory work is preferred. Familiarity with veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and aseptic techniques is highly valued. Please be comfortable around most species of animals, dogs, cats, horses, goats, small pocket pets.
Pay:
$15.00 - $21.00 per hour
