Veterinary Assistant - Precious Paws Veterinary Hospital | Bettendorf, IA Are you an experienced Veterinary Assistant looking to join a growing, modern practice where your skills are valued and your passion for patient care truly matters? At Precious Paws Veterinary Hospital, we are building a compassionate, team-focused hospital dedicated to exceptional veterinary medicine and outstanding client service. Since opening in 2021 under the leadership of Dr. Kay Metzgar, our practice has continued to grow rapidly, and we are excited to expand our support team with motivated, experienced Veterinary Assistants. Dr. Metzgar brings over 25 years of veterinary experience and earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University in 2000. Our hospital combines high-quality medicine with a collaborative and supportive work environment where every team member plays an important role in patient care and client education. Located conveniently at the base of the new I-74 bridge crossing the Mississippi River, our modern facility serves clients from both Iowa and Illinois and offers: Digital radiography Ultrasound In-house laboratory diagnostics Dental services Soft tissue surgery Preventative and wellness care What We're Looking For We are seeking a dependable, compassionate Veterinary Assistant who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working as part of a collaborative team. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, proactive, and committed to providing exceptional care to patients and clients alike. Experienced candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. Responsibilities As a Veterinary Assistant, you will support our doctors and technicians in the daily operations of the hospital, including: Assisting veterinarians during outpatient appointments Patient restraint, vaccine preparation, and obtaining patient weights Supporting technicians with patient intake, exams, and diagnostics Preparing and maintaining clean treatment areas, exam rooms, kennels, and equipment Caring for hospitalized patients, including feeding, walking, and monitoring comfort Administering medications under supervision Educating clients on patient care and treatments Managing inventory and stocking supplies Assisting with hospital laundry and facility upkeep Answering phones and supporting client communication Qualifications Must be 18 years or older Minimum 1 year of experience in a veterinary setting is required Strong communication and multitasking skills Ambition to continually learn, improve, and grow in knowledge and skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Desire to advocate for animals, especially those who are stressed, sick, or painful Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting, restraining, standing, walking, bending, and squatting for extended periods Why Join Precious Paws?
