Job Description

We are looking to hire a friendly, hard-working veterinary assistant or technician for our small animal veterinary clinics. Must enjoy working with people and animals alike! This position will work in both Eldora and Iowa Falls. At this time we are primarily looking for a part-time assistant who would work 20-26 hours/week, Monday through Friday only. This job will be mid-July.
Experience:
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree
  • Experience working in a veterinary hospital preferred Duties will include:
  • Helping veterinarian with appointments, surgeries, dentals, etc.
  • Monitoring anesthesia and patients recovering from anesthesia
  • Assisting with animal care: cleaning, feeding, watering, etc.
  • Restraining animals during appointments and surgical preparation
  • Cross training with reception and kennel work.
  • Preparing vaccinations, medications, etc. as directed by the veterinarian
  • Helping in all aspects of dental procedures
  • Helping to keep the clinic clean Skills required
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment: be collaborative, friendly, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written); ability to communicate well with both clients and coworkers.
  • Knowledge of proper animal restraint techniques
  • Familiarity with veterinary terminology and medical records management The ideal candidate:
  • Enjoys building strong relationships with coworkers
  • Has an interest in animal welfare and veterinary medicine and is eager to learn new things
  • Is happy with either working behind the front desk or working in exam rooms/surgery suite with animals
  • Enjoys multi-tasking and working at a fast pace, but is also self-sufficient enough to figure out what needs to be done during slower times.
