Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our dynamic veterinary team! In this vital role, you will support veterinarians in delivering exceptional medical services across a diverse range of species and medical cases. Your energetic approach and comprehensive technical skills will help ensure our patients receive compassionate, high-quality care. This position offers an engaging environment where your veterinary technician experience will be valued and expanded through hands-on work with animals and collaboration with dedicated professionals. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and monitoring patient status. Perform animal restraint and handling techniques to ensure safety for both animals and staff. Conduct laboratory tests, including blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostic procedures to support accurate diagnoses. Maintain aseptic technique during procedures such as animal catheterization, wound management, and sample collection to prevent infection. Operate diagnostic equipment such as X-ray machines, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed. Document all patient interactions accurately in medical records while adhering to veterinary terminology standards. Assist with animal intake and discharge processes while ensuring proper pet care instructions are communicated effectively. Skills Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and veterinary critical care practices. Skilled in dog handling techniques and dog training principles to facilitate safe interactions. Laboratory experience including sample collection, processing, and analysis to support diagnostic workflows. Proficiency in performing animal catheterization, restraint techniques, and aseptic procedures to maintain high standards of safety and hygiene. Ability to operate X-ray equipment accurately while maintaining strict safety standards for staff and animals alike. Ability to keep a fast pace in a busy hospital setting Strong background in animal care practices, including a minimum of 2+ years in veterinary medicine
Pay:
$18.00 - $24.00 per hour
